First Aid Level 1

Level one is a very popular course as it introduces learners to emergency care equips them with the skills to apply and practice basic first aid. It is usually the minimum requirement to be met by companies when being inspected by governing bodies such as the Department of Labour. First aid is a requirement of the Occupational 

Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and is enforced by the Department of Labour. The requirement is a minimum of 2 first aiders per company/building/section/level. The minimum ratio is 1 first aider per 50 people and it is recommended that as many people as possible in the organization be trained in.

  •   Certificate is valid for three years

  •   Principals of Emergency Care & Safety
  •   Shock, unconsciousness & fainting
  •   Emergency scene management
  •   Fractures
  •   Artificial respiration
  •   Burns
  •   One rescuer Adult C.P.R.
  •   Head & spinal injuries
  •   Choking
  •   Emergency Care Equipment
  •   Wounds & Bleeding
  •   Legal implications & Ethics related to emergency care
  •   The course is to be presented on a 50% theoretical and 50% practical basis.
  •   The candidate is evaluated during the duration of the course. There are no written        examinations.
  •   Compulsory competency in C.P.R. is required
